Twelve Hartsville men and women organized Hartsville Community Bank in the fall of 1998. The organizers of the new bank sold stock in the spring of 1999, and the bank opened for business on June 15, 1999. Today we have over 400 stockholders, the vast majority of them living in Hartsville.
Hartsville Community Bank was the first commercial bank to be organized in Hartsville in over sixty years. The bank opened for business with only ten employees at a small office on Fourth Street. We moved into our current location at 206 South Fifth Street in May 2001. We opened our McBee Branch on May 28, 2003, at the intersection of US 1 and SC 151.
On June 27, 2005, Hartsville Community Bank changed its name to Heritage Community Bank. Nothing else changed; same owners, same Board of Directors, same services. "Community" is still our middle name.
On November 15, 2006, the bank opened our Camden Branch and in June 2007 we moved the branch to its permanent location at 2220 West DeKalb Street. Heritage Community Banků serving more communities while sharing a common Heritage.
